In extending the school year for these students, we minimize the regression and recoupment times, providing more equitable access to a free and appropriate public education (FAPE). A student qualifies for Extended School Year when they demonstrate significant regression in skills and a lengthier recoupment time than their peers over school breaks. Extended School YearĮxtended School Year (ESY) is an extension of the regular school year for students with documented needs on an Individualized Education Plan. Extended School Year, Summer Scholars, and Kindergarten Jump Start programs are invitation only programs offered to students who qualify. Music Camp and Hawthorn Enrichment Institute are available to all students at Hawthorn, and require registration and fee payment. No school June 19. Hawthorn hosts five programs: Extended School Year, Summer Scholars, Kindergarten Jump Start, Music Camp and Hawthorn Enrichment Institute. Summer programming will be held June 5 - June 29, 2023.
